Happy Halloween from Scooter

I glow in the dark too, but won’t stand still long enough for a clear picture.

After the touchdown…

Lots of people have told me that they wouldn’t let their son(s) play football at the High School level…too dangerous, too DANGEROUS!  I’ve always had these fears too, but let’s face it, even if I told him I didn’t want him to play, he would.  True, and we’ve had some bumps and bruises along the way…see  THIS PICTURE.  SO CUTE!  Ryan is not the biggest guy on the team, the poor kid gets his size frame from me, and he gets knocked around pretty hard by WAY BIGGER KIDS!  As a mom, it’s not easy to watch, not easy at all.

But aside from the pain, the wins, the losses, the bruises and broken bones, the real reason that I wanted him to stick with the football program in high school can be demonstrated below.  He has developed good solid friendships along the way.  His group of friends all play football together and have for years.  It isn’t a competetive thing between them, they really truly encourage and support one another.

So I kept the camera clicking after the TOUCHDOWN because what I saw afterwards was and is WAY more important to me than the glory of the touchdown.

Watch number 21

He immediately puts his hand on Ryan’s helmet, huge smile on BOTH of their faces.

Continuing to smile, leaves hand on helmet.

Switching to the “hand bump”

Continuing on…rubbing the helmet

More joyous head holding.

Zack walks up to give his congratulations…notice the hand still on the helmet.

#21 starts picking at a sticker on Ryan’s helmet.

Back to full hand helmet holding.

It warms my heart…I think number 21 was as happy for Ryan as I was.  There’s no way though that Ryan would let me run onto the field and start holding his helmet.  I’d be promptly ushered off the field.

TOUCHDOWN!!!!

Here’s the moneyshot…Awesome touchdown…video to follow.  This was the JV team’s final game of the season, played at Granger High School.  The final score…I think, was 52 to 0.  I’ll have to check with Ryan on that, I was so excited after the touchdown everything else went sort of fuzzy.  Cottonwood’s JV team went UNDEFEATED this year!!!  WAY TO GO!

Ryan barely escaped the grips of this Granger player’s final attempt to stop him.

Here’s the video, so awesome!

Scary

This is what I saw in front of my monitor when I came into the office today.  I cold chill ran through my spine.  Apparently someone EVIL was using my computer when I was out of the office yesterday afternoon.   I can only assume that a key-logger was installed, or worse, a hidden video camera lurks somewhere in my office streaming my every move to the rest of the world.

Thank goodness there is also GOOD in the world, because sitting next to my EVIL sign was a glorious McDonald’s DIET COKE from the GUARDIAN ANGEL of the IT Department.  Thank you ANGEL, it is nice to know you are here protecting me from EVIL.

The best $1 I spent all week…

Jon had a soccer game on Saturday.  There is nothing better than watching 5 year olds play soccer…they don’t think about positions or defense, but everyone of them has the goal of making a goal.  They run around like a tight-knit bunch trying desperately to make contact with that ball.

Every few seconds, literally, one of them kicks the ball out of bounds.  When that happens you might be lucky enough to get to throw in back in!  No matter which direction, just throw it in…and smile!

The joy of being the center of all of the attention!

Not sure what this is.  Maybe a new gansta rap move, or maybe just time for a bathroom break.

Back at it…maybe the term huddle shouldn’t be reserved only for football.

When you aren’t “in”, you can find lots of things to amuse yourself.  The other goalie doesn’t mind this at all.  This is also a good time to tell your AUNT that you scored a goal, even if you maybe didn’t.  In our family, the rule is $1.00 for every goal.

Always hi-five the other team whether you win or lose.  And then collect your dollar!
